Installation of natural teak on yachts and boats
The noblest of woods. From bespoke installation to annual care and repair, Prestige Nautic preserves the elegance of your natural teak deck — across the entire French Riviera.
Natural teak — a timeless classic
Natural teak remains the absolute reference for pleasure-boat decks. Its warm grain, natural resistance to marine oils and legendary durability have made it the material of choice for prestige yacht builders for centuries.
A well-executed natural teak deck instantly increases a boat's value. Every plank is cut to measure, laid flat and caulked by hand. The result is a deck that is both beautiful and functional, ageing gracefully with proper care — and that is where the craftsman's expertise makes all the difference.
No material faithfully reproduces the grain, warmth and scent of real teak. A natural deck instantly elevates a boat.
A natural teak deck significantly increases resale value. The reference in high-end yachting.
Grade-A natural teak (certified plantation) lasts 20 to 30 years with proper care. A long-term investment.
New installation on a bare deck, replacement of damaged planks or full renovation: we adapt the work to the condition of your teak.
From quote to delivery
Natural teak installation demands rigour and patience. Every step is mastered to guarantee a durable, impeccable result.
Inspection & personalised quote
Assessment of the existing deck, surface measurements, teak selection (thickness, origin, FSC certification). Detailed quote with no obligation.
Removal and substrate preparation
Removal of the old teak if needed, deck sanding, filling of screw holes, treatment of damaged areas. The substrate must be sound before any installation.
Cutting and fitting the planks
The teak planks are cut to measure to perfectly follow the deck's shapes: joggles, curves, hatches and cable runs.
Laying, fastening and caulking
Plank fastening (stainless screws or bonding depending on configuration), then caulking with black or white polyurethane sealant in the seams. Traditional technique for perfect watertightness.
Final sanding & delivery
Sanding of the entire deck for a perfect surface, cleaning and drying. The teak is delivered ready to use — all that's left is to sail.
Everything about natural teak
What is the difference between natural and synthetic teak?
Natural teak offers authentic character and warmth but needs regular care; synthetic imitates wood with zero upkeep. Compare in detail in our guide synthetic vs natural teak (FR).
How much maintenance does a natural teak deck need?
Regular gentle cleaning along the grain, occasional brightening and seam repairs when needed. Well maintained, a teak deck keeps its colour and longevity.
Can an existing teak deck be renovated?
Often yes: sanding, replacement of damaged planks, seam refurbishment. We assess the remaining teak thickness to determine whether renovation is enough or relaying is preferable.
How long does a natural teak deck last?
With proper care, a quality natural teak deck lasts many years. Its longevity mainly depends on plank thickness and regular maintenance.
Does natural teak get hot in the sun?
Like any wood, it heats up less than a dark surface and stays pleasant barefoot. One of its comfort assets under the Mediterranean sun.
